I'm a clock collector so please forgive me if this question seems simplistic. I saw a pocket watch yesterday with day, date and month dials and the seconds bit at the 6 o'clock position. Also a small moon dial behind the seconds bit. The movement had "Continental Watch Co." and "Swiss Made" engraved on the movement, but no serial numbers, jewel numbers, nothing else. Also had damasceening and it was in a gun metal case. I was told that the watch dated to 1880.

I'd appreciate any information re. the Continental Watch Co as far as dates of operation, quality of watches, anything.

Many thanks,
Steve

I think this recent discussion may be relevant. These watches were generally novelty pieces. There are, however, examples by other makers that are very high quality and very valuable.
