I have always been under the impression that Crown watches were actually made by the New York Standard Watch Company. This movement does not appear to be one of theirs or at least it doesn't appear in the Complete Guide to Watches number 19. Could someone tell me who made this watch?
Thanks,

I am not familiar with the plate design, but it looks very Swiss.
There were hundreds of Swiss companies that made watches for American companies.
Are there any other trademarks of any kind buried deep under the back plate?

Vic,
I have the Keystone, Howard, Crown, and NYS material catalog from 1919, and your movement doesn't show there. Hmmmmmmmmmm!

Jeff & Doug,
There is a strong possibility that the watch is Swiss as the method of fastening the dial is definately tn the swiss style. However I don't think its old enough not to have "swiss" stamped somewhere noticable on the movement - I could be wrong. Canadian import?
I also have never seen the studding of the hairspring to the Balance Cock done the way that this one is. Not quite sure what to make of it yet.
I just received the watch yesterday (fleabay) and it's running a little slow but with good motion, sitting on my bench. I'll get it out of its case over the weekend and look deeper into it and see if there is some other identifiers on the movement.
Thanks.
Vic

Well I dropped the movement out of it's case and did everything short of breaking it down. There are no identifying marks that I can find.
As a minor adjustment of the regulator brought it into good timing I'm holding off on breaking it down for a clean & oil. When I do and If I find something to help identify I'll dig this thread up and ask again - or post the maker.

This stud is typical of L.U. Chopard (LUC)even if it probably was used by other companies as well
