I have a silver pocket watch made by Ron Boskell? Liverpool. i inherited it years ago and i know my late uncle bought it from a sailor in Liverpool. It has a silver front cover hallmarked and a silver back cover also with the same hallmarks. it has a small brass key which today i have inserted in the back wound it up and it is working , the only thing missing is the minute hand .It was loose behind the glass last time i looked at it 10 years ago the initials CJ are engraved in the covers and lots of numbers are scratched into the back plate. it's heavy and about two inches across the numbers seem to be 2897 bf and 2835bf 425nm there are others but hard to tell. the figures of the watch are roman numerals. any info would be appreciated please. i'll arrange to have it photographed asap

The name is probably Rob. Roskell of Liverpool. If you click on the find button and type in Roskell you will get a list of previous posts about him. I look forward to seeing the photo's

You can date your watch using the Hallmarks and http://www.horologia.co.uk/hallmarks1.html

Britten has Robert Roskell, "...the elder, Liverpool. Many rack lever and cylinder watches by him; he was also a collector of curious horlogical specimens, 1800-30."

If you can post a picture of the watch movement (works) I may be able to date the watch from the serial number.
