What is this? Is this the same as the so called Walthams we have seen here. There seems to be a bunch of these around lately. Walthams, Elgin/Brunes and , others. Are they comeing out of the woodwork because of the prices these things are bringing? What do you all think? This in no way a Ball right? Thanks alot and keep it up. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=944443939&rd=1

Aaron,

To me, it's just as much a Ball as the others are Walthams. Especially when you consider the fact that Ball never manufactured any watches to begin with.

The most obvious inaccuracy of the sale is the heading "railroad" There were Ball commercial grade, but to my knowledge always specified as not railroad grade.

There also looks like there is one, maybe two, busted teeth on the crown wheel.

I see nothing wrong with this, other than the as mentioned use of the word "Railroad". This is a rather late Swiss Ball from about 1950 or so. Record watch co. made a good watch and the quality of this one looks about right for a Ball. It's a good representative item for the Ball collector, though I'm not sure I would have paid so much to get it.
