Can anyone help me identify this pocket watch that I picked up in a Antique shop in Lexington, MO a couple of weeks ago?

Not sure what it is... It's a silver hunter case that is marked Perret & Fils on the dial and the inside back has several medallion looking coins and what appears to be French writing. One date says 1843, but I suspect that to be the date the watchmaker Perret & Fils formed his business???

I'm new at trying to post pics, so bear with me... Tom Chaudoir was nice enough to help me out, so I'll give it a try.

Any information you can give me on the watch would be greatly appreciated.

Here it is...

The manufacturer is Perret Fils of Les Brenets, Switzerland.

The watch style is "La Palme" clearly shown on the dust cover.

The name Perret & Fils was first used in 1883 for the watch line.

Hi Rich,

the trade mark "La Palme" with a branch was registered for Perret & Fils in 1887, and was used until about 1897. Regarding the style of your watch, I'd date it to the end of this period.

Around 1900 it was quite usual to emboss medals won on various competitions on the dust cover - just a kind of advertising without real importance for the particular watch.
