Sounds a lot like the 1920's to me, perhaps a two-tone green and white gold combination. Be VERY careful and take Annie's advice on this one. Sam and I might both jump to conclusions, but I'd bet on a hinge at the bottom and opening by a gentle pry at the top. Again, be very careful as I've seen a number of beautiful cases ruined by the well-meaning but sadly uninformed and overconfident individual.
