At the Rocky Mtn Regional I picked up another ephemeral bit for my collection of "rare", "minty", "blazing" and truly "scarce" "crispy" "near unique" (?)movement tins. So for all you fellow shipping tin collectors out there (don't be afraid to fess up that you too collect junk like this), here's a scan of my modest collection of Springfield, Mass., ones.

Thanks Wes.

Let's see some more. Others out there must have a few of these in their collections.

Greg,
This is a list of the Elgin tins I have.

If anyone owns one of these watch, the tin is yours.

I have a total of about 150 tins but these are the ones with the serial numbers and other information on them.
I have a picture but have no where to put it.

Sheila,

You have a very nice selection of Elgin tins.

Have you considered looking for any of the missing mvts on ebay. You could set up a search such as (12734665,15868572,...) +Elgin and probably not get too many extraneous hits.

P. S. There's still gold in them thar hills. Today we panned 10 flakes worth about $1.14. Our only costs were 200 miles of travel, a $61 tour and a $1 glass vial. Pretty good return, eh?

Evening, Greg,

Well, ya' learn something every day! I had no idea such tins existed, and yours is an excellent collection of them, I'd say!! Thanks for teaching me something new today. Always something new to learn at NAWCC U.!!

I hope you're having a fine time on your vacation. Sounds like you're having fun, even if you're not getting rich from your panning!!  Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc Mark

Speaking of panning for gold, a road grader and some separation equipment can make it go faster for a semi-amateur.

Roland Fisher mined the gold for this wristwatch case not far from where you are.

Roland refines and alloys the gold himself to make his cases.
