Hi has any one seen this logo or motif on a Waltham before: <s> That's as close as I can get to it, It is an S inside a broken box. The <> nearly meet like that. I have a 16s, 7j, huntere with this on the dial and movement and nobody I know has ever seen it before! Thanks for any info you may be able to give me.

Hi findawatch:
Welcome to the NAWCC Pocket Watch Message Board!
I just this week received a picture in the mail, asking about the same marking: <S>
It is on the dial and model 88 gilt movement of a watch whose serial number 6,482,476. This indicates a 16-size, 7-jewel, grade No. 20. I don't recall seeing it before, but perhaps somebody else can tell us all about it.

As a matter of fact it is just that serial nujmber Kent so I must know you!!! lol Joking aside has anyone at all got any info as I cannot find anyhing relating to it and as I want to sell it I like to give all info I can.
Many thanks for reply.

I had one with the <S> on the dial and stamped on the inner lid of the HC. It was a 16s, but I don't have the serial number. I may be able to get the serial number from its new owner.
I don't know what the <s> was about either.

Was this a PL or ? Was it a Waltham export?

i bought it from a guy in Canada but the hunter case was ruined. Now I cannot seem to find a casse to fit it in. It seems a little larger than later size 16s.

88 model with a detent stem, one case screw and a flat locating pin.
To the Waltham mavens - for their database records, the serial on the one I had is 8072775. It is a 16 size 7 jewel '88 model.

with the special dial?
<S> on Dial (Under Waltham) and <S> on inside hinged back lid. I don't recall if the mov't was marked with the <S>.
Was this a private label or importer's marking?

Thanks Jon.
Thanks Alan for the original post. I wonder if the original case was marked with the <S>.
