I want to save some of the answers on here for looking up things, and since my husband is on a LONG Genealogy project, I can't print it out for a while, can I save the answers I get somehow?
Should NOT have given my kids my other 2 printers, poooo!
Thanks,
Sheila

Start a file system on your computer!

You can cut and paste the responses into a word processing file and save them on your hard drive.

Sheila,

To save a page, just use the 'Save As...' option on the File menu.

I would advise creating a folder just for web pages. For instance, I have one called 'Web Pages' within the My Documents folder. Whenever I save a page, it goes there. The reason I make this suggestion is that several files get saved when you do this. The page itself (html) will be saved in the folder you create (this is the file you will click on when you want to view the page again), but the system will also create another folder for each page you save. This folder will hold all of the other stuff on the page like pictures, icons, gif files, etc. Once a page is saved, you do not have to be connected to the internet in order to view it.

All of this is said with the assumption that you're using a Microsoft O/S and running Internet Explorer. If you're using Netscape on some other platform I'm not exactly sure how it would be done, although I am sure there's a similar way.

P.S. Henry was obviously typing at the same time I was, and he is correct. The method I described will just save all of the graphics as well.

You can also click "Save as" under the file menu of your browser. Of course if you don't have access to the computer, that won't help.

No chance of a question not being answered here!

Well everybody responded while I was typing but I went to the trouble so here is my 2 cents!

Sheila,
Highlight the text you wish to save by pressing the left mouse button on the first letter. While holding the button down scan across and down to highlight the text you want. When you reach the last word/letter release the button. Now move cursor anywhere on the highlighted area and right-click. On the menu that appears left-click copy. The text is now on your clipboard. Open Notepad or Wordpad. Right-click on the white area and left-click paste on the menu that comes up. Now click the "File" tab at top of Notepad window. Choose "save as" and left-click. Now just choose directory you want the text file in (probably "My Documents") and name the file.

Can one not save the title and then search for them later on this MB?

As an alternative, you can make a new folder in your bookmarks, (favorites). Call the folder "Message Board" or the like.

When you save a page, just be sure to put it into the dedicated folder. As a bonus, the name of the bookmark will contain the subject of the topic.

Thank you, thank you, I made a (NAWCC Saved) file and now I will just send the pages there.
DAhhhhhh! I knew how to do this, I was just worried about messing things up here. I have done this a lot on other sites, but never copied a Message board like this one before.
I just saved the pages until I got everything I wanted and then got rid of it. This way, I can use it as a constant reference. I forgot all about the copy paste thing, so now I can do that too. You should see my favorites list, it has to have 800 pages on it. I use them too!
I have AOL so I'm sure that some things will mess up, but I have to wait until my other computer is fixed before I can use the Comcast High Speed internet connection again, that lets me do everything and I know that computer better than this one. But Hey, it works!
Thank you all for the reminder, now all I have to do, is find out how to do all that on this old laptop.
Thanks again,
Sheila
