Oh...I should also have mentioned that it is signed with that name on the movement and the face. I believe it is French but don't know much else. The case is silver but is not hallmarked. The key winds through the face.

John,
I can not find that maker listed.. A picture of both the front and the back would help in at least dating it...Sometimes the engraving on these old ones is difficult to read and a look by someone else will yield a different spelling.

John,
Also a picture of the movement would help determine if it was Swiss, French or English and the approximate period of manufacture.

Hey Guys,
I appreciate your help. I am away from home this week but I will post some pics this weekend. Hopefully you'll be able to identify it.

I believe that this watch is a typical example of a late 18th Century French Verge that winds through the dial.
Decosse appears to be the name of the maker & Garcelle the town in France ????

There is one "Decosse" without notation of a Christian name mentioned in my "Dictionanaire des Horologers Francais". The town of Guingamp in Britanny is mentioned together with the year 1850. That's all info I can find. I can't find a place called Garcelle, though. Are you sure of the spelling?

Yes, I'm very certain that is the right spelling
Decosse a Garcelle (the 'a' is french)

I have found an area called Garcelles-Secgueville located in Low- Normandy France
Do we have any members who live in France that can confirm that Garcelle is a town or village in France?
