HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO!...sure is big in here...no one about tho'...I'll set here and wait...maybe someone will come along...a body could learn a few things here I'll wager...like how this 8 day T/S
I have strikes as quiet as a church mouse on the test stand but 'grinds and groans' the moment I strap it into the case...someone'll be along...I'll just set here awhile

I'm living proof you can collect clocks, but not work on them. My best guess is that when you fasten the movement into the case, you're slightly twisting it, causing wear on the strike side pivots.

Thanks Steve...Phil...thought I had taken pains not to 'rack' the movement when I replaced it in the case...like being sure to rotate the tightening of the metal screws securing it to the backboard...but yes, the closed case may well be acting as a resonance box...am off to the hardware store to get some rubber washers and try...

Check to see if any pivots are touching the backboard
