Keith, I know for sure that grades 910 and 914 require a special case.

None of the Hamilton 12-size movements fit standard cases.

According to Ehrhardt's book, all require a special case except grade 400, which is really an Illinois movement. Grades 900, 910, 914, 920 all the same (pillar plate 1.630"). Also, grades 902, 904, 912, 916, 918 fit the same case (pillar plate 1.537"). 922 & Masterpiece had special cases.

Danwatch -- as near as I have been able to tell, the 922 and the 922MP (Masterpiece) are the same movement size as the rest of the second series of watches (902, 904, 912, 916 & 918). The Masterpiece took a "special" case (compared to the 922, etc.) only in the quality and style of the case, not the size. It came in special 18K or platinum cases, but the case has the same inside dimensions as the others in this movement series.

The grade 400 was indeed adapted from an Illinois movement (the Illini, grade 528), but it also takes a special case. The diameter is pretty close to standard 12-size, but it is a much thinner movement.
