I know absolutely nothing about watches. I bought this watch because the face is marked "J.M. Quinby and Co. Newark, N.J." which manufactured carriages in the mid 1800s on. My guess is , it was a presentation piece, but there is no engraving as such. The movement is marked "swiss made", and Reichenberg& Co. Switzerland 15 fifteen jewels, 5 five adjustments. The case is marked "Argentan" Swiss 385428. Its approx a 2.125 inch face.I just wondered if anyone knew it's approx age. I can e-mail pictures if necessary. Thanks in advance, Brian

Brian,
Welcome to the National Association of Watch & clock Collectors message board. The NAWCC is an international group 30,000 + watch and clock collectors in approximately 180 chapters world wide. There might even be one near you. There are 3,300 + registered posters to this message board, and many more who aren't registered. The NAWCC offers a long list of resources to the general public and to the membership on its website. You may reach the website at:
NAWCC (http://www.nawcc.org/)
Please bookmark both this site and the NAWCC website, and return often. Now, down to your question.
Your watch is what is called a private label watch. That is, it was not made by the company named on the dial, but might have been contracted to be made that way. This company might have been a retailer. Hopefully there will be someone here who can tell you something of the company. I suspect we are going to require you to post a picture of the watch showing the front view, the rear view with the back off, and inside the case back in an effort to pin down some information on the rest of the watch. Swiss ones are tougher than American ones to nail down, sometimes. The Swiss watch industry was run quite differently to the American watch industry. We await your reply.
Doug S.
